His passion for this work stems from mentoring underserved students in his home state of Colorado, extensive social work in developing nations, countless dinner conversations with family members entrenched in education reform, and his own experience learning as a Leadership ISD fellow.

He loves building better systems to unleash the full power of people and is deeply committed to ensuring that every student of every race, background, and socioeconomic status, receives an excellent and equitable education. In this role, Brian oversees all business operations, finance, HR, technology, and communications functions.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling to new places, reading (fiction and nonfiction), and spending time outside, preferably where the forest, mountains, and water all come together.īrian serves as Leadership ISD’s operations officer, providing operational leadership and organizational support to further LISD’s mission. Michera received her BA from Duke University and her J.D. Prior to serving as Leadership ISD’s executive director, Michera worked as a public school teacher, education law attorney, and nonprofit leader in multiple educational equity organizations. LISD’s work generates powerful and durable systemic shifts that improve student outcomes and student experience, and Michera is grateful to lead these efforts to affect positive change in the North Texas community that forged her. Systemic change requires collective vision and effort, and Michera loves collaborating with incredible people across North Texas to build an educational ecosystem that prepares all students to achieve their boldest dreams.ĭrawn to Leadership ISD because of its unique expertise in both developing and supporting school board trustees and informing and activating communities, Michera is passionate about building up leaders and systems that are laser-focused on creating a strong and equitable public education system. She also works to secure and align key resources while maximizing LISD’s capacity to empower communities to advance educational equity. As Leadership ISD’s executive director, she utilizes her expertise in strategic visioning, planning, and implementation to guide the organization’s direction and impact. Michera is a North Texas native who has worked at the intersection of education and access to opportunity for nearly 20 years.
